KUWAIT, Feb 22 (KUNA) -- French Ambassador to Kuwait Claire Le Flecher on Tuesday expressed pride that her nation had participated in the liberation of the State Kuwait from "claws of the flagrant Iraqi occupation" in 1991.
In remarks to KUNA marking the 61st anniversary of the State of Kuwait Independence and the 31st Liberation Day, the ambassador lauded Kuwait's leading role for bolstering regional peace and expressed satisfaction at the level of relations between the Gulf country and her nation.
She congratulated Their Highnesses, the Amir and the Crown Prince, on the national occasions, wishing Kuwait further progress and prosperity.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Li Minggang said the achievements that has Kuwait made over the years are worth celebrating, expressing readiness to "twin" the two nations' development strategies.
He expressed congratulations to the top Kuwaiti leaders on the national days as well as on the success in combating the novel coronavirus, where the country largely witnessed restoration of normal life.
The Chinese envoy also praised Kuwait's mediation for resolving the Gulf crisis, thus contributing to the preservation of the regional peace and stability.
In Amman, the Kuwaiti Ambassador Aziz Al-Daihani said in an interview with the official news agency, Petra, marking the Kuwaiti national occasion, that the Kuwait-Jordan relations have been distinguished since 1961, noting that the two countries have signed 73 accords and memos covering diverse sectors.
Kuwaiti investments in Jordan have reached USD 18 billion, he confirmed, noting that stances by the two countries toward regional and international causes have been identical.
In Gaza, Palestine's Ambassador to the State of Kuwait Rami Tahboub took part in an online seminar, organized by Israa University in Gaza, shedding light on Kuwait's support for the Palestinian cause.
Ambassador Tahboub expressed felicitations to the Kuwaiti leaders on the national days, affirming that the Kuwaiti people have been among the most ardent supporters for the Palestinian cause, noting that the Kuwaiti stance has been based on the commitment to justice, the Arab and Islamic identity of Jerusalem.
He noted that the Palestine Liberation Organization had been launched in Kuwait which also hosted hundreds Palestinian teachers, revealing that Kuwait paid USD 100 million to the Palestinian administration over the past four years.
Kuwait, since 2019, has paid USD 50 million to the UN relief agency, UNRWA, he added. (end) kt.rk
