KUWAIT, Jan 24 (KUNA) -- Two UN officials stressed the importance of cooperation with Kuwait and its partners to enhance the educational process, and reorient education and training in the country.
This came in a joint press statement Monday, by UN Secretary-General Representative and Resident Coordinator in Kuwait Dr. Tariq Al-Sheikh, and the Director of the UNESCO Office in Doha, and the representative to the Gulf States and Yemen, Dr. Anna Paolini, on the occasion of World Education Day.
The statement noted that World Education Day 2022 serves as a platform to present the most important transformations that must be sponsored, such as the basic right of every individual to education and building a more sustainable and inclusive future.
Moreover, the statement quoted Dr. Al-Sheikh as saying that in Kuwait, the Abdulaziz Al-Babtain Foundation cooperates with the United Nations by celebrating a series of international events to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.
Dr. Al-Sheikh also pointed out that it is a great opportunity for the UN in Kuwait to join forces and to promote quality education for peace and development in achieving global goals in Kuwait and abroad.
For her part, Dr. Paolini affirmed that this year the UN celebrates World Education Day at a moment when education systems are still recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic and are struggling with additional challenges presented by the new waves of the virus.
She pointed out that UNESCO's flagship report on the future of education calls for a new social contract where all actors share a similar vision for the general purposes of education. (end) ak.aa
