JEDDAH, Jan 20 (KUNA) -- The Command of the Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen said its forces carried out airstrikes on hotbeds of maritime piracy and organized crimes in Hudaydah governorate, west Yemen, on Thursday. Houthi elements use Hudaydah seaport as launch pad for their criminal activities that jeopardize the regional and international peace, the command said in a statement posted to the Saudi Press Agency's Twitter account.
The precise airstrikes neutralized the capabilities of the Houthi militias who used Hudaydah port as artery for weapon smuggling, according to the statement.
The Iranian-backed Houthi militias used the Stockholm accord (on de-escalation of hostilities in Hudaydah) as an umbrella for acquiring more weapons, thus threatening the international navigation in southern the Red Sea it added. (pickup previous) nsa.gb
