PARIS, Jan 20 (KUNA) -- Franch National Assembly adopted on Thursday a resolution that denounces "genocide" by China against its Uyghur population, a minority Muslim group in Xinjiang region.
French channel France 24, stated that the non-binding resolution, adopted with 169 votes in favor, one against, and five abstentions, was proposed by the opposition Socialists in the lower house of parliament but also backed by President Emmanuel Macron's Republic on the Move party.
It also called on the French government to undertake "the necessary measures within the international community and in its foreign policy towards the People's Republic of China" to protect the minority group in Xinjiang region. (end) mao.ahm
