KUWAIT, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim inaugurated early on Wednesday the follow-up parliamentary session to look into a number of topics in the agenda.
The session is kicking off with examination of a number of papers and questions, proceeding with further examination of the Amiri Speech that marked inauguration of the second regular session of the 16th legislative term. Moreover, the MPs are looking into the government manifesto for the 16th legislative term (2021-2022 -- 2024-2025).
Furthermore, they are studying decrees-into-laws, bills and reports of the parliamentary committee of budgets and final accounts of the government departments and reports by relevant audit authorities.
The topics under examination include accords, memoranda of understanding (MoUs), protocols and documents, in addition to debate queries, requests for forming parliamentary audit panels and temporary committees.
The National Assembly (parliament), in Tuesday's session, looked into the interpellations' topic, and one MP, Hamdan Al-Azmi, grilled Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah over a host of issues regarding his performance. The NA Speaker Al-Ghanim had declared that 10 MPs requested a no-confidence vote against the minister.
Al-Ghanim also declared that the no-confidence vote would be in parliamentary session on January 26.
The defense minister was inquired about enrolment of women in Kuwait Army, high cost of the Eurofighters aircraft deal and abstention from responding to regulatory agencies -- among other issues. (end) jy.ns.tb.rk
