RIYADH, Jan 4 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf highlighted the need to deepen the maritime security cooperation with US in the framework of the strategic partnership between both sides.
He raised this issue on Tuesday during a virtual meeting he had with Commander of the US Fifth Fleet Navy Vice Admiral Charles Cooper II, according to a statement from the GCC Secretariat.
Dr. Al-Hajraf and Vice Admiral Cooper II reviewed the cooperation between the GCC states and the US with emphasis on the issues of security of water corridors, and the freedom and safety of navigation in the Arabian Gulf region, the statement noted. (end) mdm.gb
