KUWAIT, Dec 16 (KUNA) -- Developing the skills of security personnel, facilities and tools is considered a priority for the state and it would ensure that Kuwait is safely guarded against threats both internal and external, said His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Thursday.
This statement to the press came during Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled's tour of inspection of the northern border facilities.
His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah conveyed greeting from the Kuwaiti leadership to the border security personnel, saying their efforts were highly regarded.
He expressed satisfaction at the level of development of human resources, tools, and procedures at the border checkpoints, affirming that personnel working there were the first line of defense against threats targeting Kuwait.
He lauded the continuous efforts by border security personnel in maintaining peace and security as well as their coordination with fellow employees on the Iraqi side of the borders.
His Highness the Prime Minister indicated that the Abdali border checkpoint was an important facility that helps maintains social, economic, and commercial cooperation between Iraq and Kuwait.
Regarding the health situation in Kuwait in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister stressed that the situation was under control; however, he indicated that it was necessary for Kuwaitis to follow up on health guidelines and take the booster vaccine shot to prevent the spread of the new Omicron COVID-19 variant.
On his part, Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Ali Al-Sabah welcomed His Highness the Prime Minister on his visit to the northern border checkpoints, vowing that the ministry's personnel would do their best to maintain security within and on borders of Kuwait.
He thanked the Kuwaiti leadership for its continuous support to the Ministry of Interior, saying that it motivated security personnel to carry on their duty with vigilance and pride.
During his tour of inspection, His Highness the Prime Minister was briefed on the daily operations of the facilities and the recent upgrades of procedures, hardware, and personnel training.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah as well as Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad were with His Highness the Prime Minister during the inspection.
