ALGIERS, Nov 27 (KUNA) -- As many as 24 million eligible voters are set to flow to polling stations in Algeria on Saturday for the election of their representatives of communal and provincial assemblies.
The polling stations opened early morning and will close on the same day at 7.00 p.m.
In a press statement, Head of the National Independent Authority for the Elections (ANIE) Mohamed Charfi said for the second consecutive time voters will head to polling centers in order to handpick their representatives, following the parliamentary elections held on 12 June, 2021.
He estimated that the number of candidates for communal assemblies is 115,230 and candidates for provincial assemblies is 18,993.
A total 182,981 observes delegated by 40 political parties competing for these local elections have been deployed to oversee the vote. (end) mr.mt
