MADRID, Oct 28 (KUNA) -- Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona FC have parted ways with their Dutch manager Ronald Koeman following a 1-0 away defeat to Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday.
"FC Barcelona has relieved Ronald Koeman of his duties as first team coach," read a statement on the club's official website.
"The president of the club, Joan Laporta, informed him of the decision after the defeat against Rayo Vallecano. Ronald Koeman will say goodbye to the squad on Thursday at the Ciutat Esportiva." Barca sit ninth in the league, collecting only four wins in 10 games since the start of the season, alongside three draws and three losses, one of which was at home against fierce rivals, Real Madrid, at Camp Nou.
Their disappointing run of form has also has also extended to Europe, with the Spanish side amassing only three points in the UEFA Champions League group stage after two defeats and one victory in three matches so far. (end) hnd.sd
