WASHINGTON, Oct 26 (KUNA) -- The US is "deeply concerned" about Israel's plans to advance thousands of settlements, in particular "deep in the West Bank" in addition to the governmentآ’s approval on Sunday of 1,300 construction tenders to take place in Israeli settlements.
"We strongly oppose the expansion of settlements which is completely inconsistent with efforts to lower tensions and to ensure calm and it damages the prospects for a two-state solution," State Department spokesperson Ned Price told a press breifing.
"We have been consistent, as I said, and clear in our statements to this effect." Price added that the US views as "unacceptable" plans for the retroactive legalization of illegal outposts.
"We continue to raise this issue directly with senior Israeli officials in our private discussions," he said. (end) rsr.sd
