RIYADH, Oct 23 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf Saturday welcomed the UN Secretary Council's statement deploring the attacks of the "terrorist" Houthis on Saudi Arabia's torridities and facilities.
The UNSC statement stresses that the international community is paying attention to the Yemeni crisis caused by the Houthi militias through their coup against the constitutional legitimacy, Al-Hajraf said in an announcement.
He reiterated the GCC firm stance on ending Yemen's crisis through a political solution, in line with the three references; the Gulf infinitive and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the national dialogue and the UNSC Resolution 2216.
Al-Hajraf called on the Houthis to respond to the calls for ceasefire and be involved positively in the efforts made by the US and its special envoy for Yemen to resume the political talks amongst the Yemeni parties without preconditions in a way that achieves the country's security, stability.
This will also help address the deterioration of humanitarian situations resulted from continued Houthi blockade of the cities and hindering humanitarian aid access to the needy Yemeni areas, he noted.
Last Wednesday, the UNSC condemned, in a statement, Houthis' border-crossing attacks on Saudi Arabia and called for an immediate ceasefire in Yemen, in accordance with the UNSC Resolution 2565 issued in 2021. (end) mdm.hm
