KUWAIT, Sept 21 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's role and policy have contributed to disseminating peace and backing dialogue mainly in the issues of human rights and racism, said Kuwaiti foreign minister on Tuesday.
Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah made the statement through Zoom during a festivity organized by Women's Institute for Development and Peace (WIDP) to mark the International Day of Peace.
He recalled the good stances of late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as a humanitarian leader, on peace and mediation efforts to resolve conflicts through peaceful methods.
Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nasser, also Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, renewed Kuwait's determination to continue its responsibilities towards promoting and spreading the principles of peace and mitigating human sufferings at the official and popular levels in order to achieve a more just and peaceful world.
Meanwhile, Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Aboul-Gheit said that building societies after conflicts requires non-discrimination and women's participation in society; a society that protects them from violence and social injustice.
He noted that preserving women's rights and enhancing their social role safeguard peace and support stability.
Meanwhile, head of WIDP Kawthar Al-Jawaan lauded Kuwait's humanitarian positions and the Amiri directives that fulfilled several initiatives and provided aid to people in light of the coronavirus and natural disasters. She pointed to Kuwait's pivotal role in unifying the Arab rank through reconciliation efforts.
