RAMALLAH, Aug 2 (KUNA) -- The international community and the US must halt the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Jerusalem especially in the Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan neighborhoods, Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said Monday.
Delivering his weekly speech at the cabinet meeting in Ramallah, Shtayyeh stressed that forcibly evicting Palestinians from their own neighborhoods and lands was an act against international human rights laws and norms.
The Prime Minister touched on the recent report released by the Human Rights Watch (HRW), which deemed the Israeli occupiers against Palestinians as acts of apartheid.
The Israeli occupiers Supreme Court will hold a session today to look into a decision to forcibly evict four Palestinian families from the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.
Prime Minister Shtayyed warned of attempts to confiscate Palestinian properties via the so-called "settlement measure", which enables the Israeli occupiers to "legally" refer Palestinians to court if they did leave their lands and homes. (end) nq.gta
