JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, May 18 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Nayef Al-Hajraf on Tuesday voiced the Gulf member states' rejection and denunciation of offensive remarks made by Charbel Wahba, minister of foreign affairs in Lebanon's caretaker government, against the Gulf countries and their peoples during a TV interview.
In a press statement, Al-Hajraf recalled the bloc states' firm backing the brotherly Lebanese people and Lebanon's territorial integrity, stability and security.
The remarks run counter to the simplest diplomatic norms and are not in harmony with the historical relations between the GCC countries and Lebanon, he regretted.
Al-Hajraf called on the Lebanese minister to offer an official apology to the GCC member states and their peoples over his unacceptable offensive remarks. (end) nsa.sam.hm
