KUWAIT, May 10 (KUNA) --

1957 -- The Public Theater was established with Mohammad Al-Nashmi leading work at theater.

1966 -- Kuwait government issued a law about local mayors and their responsibilities.

1967 -- Parliamentary by-elections were held to replace seven MPs who resigned in protest of outcome of voting.

1999 -- Kuwait Ministry of Planning and Microsoft signed a memorandum of understanding on use of Microsoft software in government sector, as well as banning unlicensed softwares.

2000 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a law providing social allowances for citizens working in private sector, as well as a special allowance for the unemployed.

2000 -- The International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) opened its headquarters in Al-Shuhada Area, south Surra. Around two million Kuwaiti Dinars in donations contributed to the construction of the building.

2005 -- The Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) opened its Technology and Health Complex, marking the 50th anniversary of start of technical education and vocational training in Kuwait.

2008 -- A surgery for pancreas and kindey transplant for a 23-year-old patient was conducted at Hamed Al-Essa transplant center.

2016 -- Kuwait National Assembly approved a bill over writer's rights.

2017 -- Kuwait National Assemby formed a committee to examine outcome of an interpellation against Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Sabah.

2018 -- Kuwait National Assembly reiterated confidence in Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Bakheet Al-Rashidi in the wake of a May 2 grilling.

2018 -- Kuwait National Assembly reaffirmed confidence in Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh following a May 2 interpellation.

2020 -- A full curfew took effect in a bid to control spread of coronavirus. The curfew lasted until May 30.

2019 -- Kuwait SC won Kuwait Football Association Premier League after beating Samliya SC 4-1. (end) bs
