ROME, May 9 (KUNA) -- Italy said on Sunday it registered 139 new deaths of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours, taking the total fatalities to 122,833. Today's deaths dropped to the lowest rate since October 25, 2020.
The ministry of health said in its daily report that 8,292 people tested positive for the disease in the same period, bringing the total cases to 4,111,210, more than 3.6 million of whom recovered from the pandemic.
The national vaccination campaign against coronavirus included 16,492,668, making up 27.65 percent of the total population, it noted. (end) mn.hm
