KUWAIT, July 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ministry of Health said Monday 614 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours to increase registered cases to 55,508.
Ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said three persons died of the virus to make total fatalities 393.
He added the new cases were of people who came into close contact with infected persons.
Al-Sanad said 378 of the new cases were Kuwaiti citizens, or 61.56, and 236 non-Kuwaitis, or 38.44 percent.

Al-Sanad said distribution of cases according to the medical areas were: 171 in Al-Ahmadi, 145 in Al-Jahra, 134 in Farwaniya, 95 in Hawally and 69 in the Capital.
He said 26 cases were in each of areas of Jaber Al-Ali, Al-Oyoun and Al-Dhahr, 25 in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, 22 in Farwaniya and 22 in Waha.
Al-Sanad said there were 148 patients in the intensive care units, while number of patients receiving treatment was 9,759.
Medical teams took 4,086 swab tests in the past 24 hours, bringing their total to 437,422.
Al-Sanad said 86 people completed their mandatory quarantine period and would now need to do home quarantine for 14 days. (pickup previous) mak.bs
