BRUSSELS, July 13 (KUNA) -- European Union foreign ministers are meeting in person in Brussels Monday for the first time since the pandemic lockdown with two main items on the agenda, Turkey and Latin America.
"I'm looking forward to seeing the ministers in person, after a long period of videoconference meetings. And it's going to be important to be all together here in person because we have important things to discuss. The first thing will be Latin America," EU High Representative Josep Borrell said in an online press statement ahead of the meeting.
"We have to put Latin America in our minds because first of all they are suffering an important problem with the corona virus and secondly because we have to strengthen our relation from many points of view," he said.
آ آ "Also we're going to talk about Turkey, which is the most important item in the agenda today, you know that the relationship with Turkey are not especially good at the moment. And I think it's going to be an interesting discussion in order to see how to address this important issue," he noted.
The ministers will also discuss the situation in Libya, Venezuela and Africa. Moreover, Borrell said he will brief the ministers with the result of the first meeting of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
He said they would study the situation in Hong Kong. "The law passed by the Chinese authorities is more draconian than expected. The member states will express their points of view on the situation," he added. (end) nk.bs
