NEW DELHI, July 11 (KUNA) -- Indian defence authorities said on Saturday that Indian forces gunned down two militants in an encounter in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Press Trust of India quoted defence spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia as saying that an encounter broke out as the Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Naugam sector of Kupwara district in Kashmir.
Following a suspicious movement detected by the security officials at Naugam sector in north Kashmir and in the subsequent face-off, two militants were killed and arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot.
New Delhi accuses Islamabad of supporting and funding the armed groups in Kashmir, claims which Islamabad denies. (end)
