KUWAIT, July 9 (KUNA) -- The global coronavirus (COVID-19) cases topped 12 million Thursday while the recorded deaths are nearing 550,000, said Johns Hopkins University Thursday.
The US and Brazil rank first and second globally in the number of coronavirus cases and deaths as they are the only two countries with over one million cases. As a result, the global tally showed that the coronavirus cases worldwide reached 12,043,992 while the deaths reached 549,508.
This comes as the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that the first wave of the pandemic is not over yet as infection rates are increasing. (end) si.gta
