GENEVA, July 7 (KUNA) -- The World Health Organization (WHO) Director General, Tedros Ghebreyesus, affirmed Tuesday that the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet.
"The virus infection rates during the last weekend all over the world amounted to about 400,000," Ghebreyesus said in an online press conference.
He stressed the need to take into account that infection rates are increasing even if it seems otherwise when noting that the rates have decreased in certain regions, as is happening in Europe.
Ghebreyesus noted that an integrated scientific team will fly to China next week to discuss the animal origin of the virus and other intermediate animals that transmit it to humans. (end) ta.aa
