ROME, May 29 (KUNA) -- Italy's Serie A will return on June 20, the sports minister, Vincenzo Spadafora, has confirmed.
The minister, emerging on Friday from a video conference with leaders of Italian soccer unions, said the government agreed to resume the matches for the top teams on June 20 -- to be prceded by semi-final games of the Italian cup on June 13, 14 as well as the final encounter on June 17.
Serie A was suspended on March 9, with Juventus leading the table by a point with 12 rounds of matches remaining.
Players returned to individual training earlier this month before group sessions restarted this week.
On May 20, the Italian football federation (FIGC) set a August 30 deadline for finishing the 2019-20 season. (end) mn.rk
