NEW DELHI, May 25 (KUNA) -- Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday the death toll due to COVID-19 in the country rose to 4,021 while infections climbed to 138,845.
154 more deaths and 6,977 fresh cases have been reported in the past 24 hours, the Ministry said in its morning update. Maharashtra is the worst hit among 33 Indian states as the COVID-19 deaths rose to 1,635 and cases climbed to 50,231 so far followed by Gujarat with 858 deaths and 14,056 cases.
National capital New Delhi and south Indian state of Tamil Nadu are other worst affected Indian states. India had recently extended lockdown for the fourth time to curb the spread of deadly corona virus in the country. The lockdown shall continue to remain in force until May 31 with several relaxations in the non-affected areas. (end) atk.gb
