ROME, April 10 (KUNA) -- Giuseppina B, a 103-years-old Italian woman, became the latest super old woman to defeat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
President of the union of communities at Mont-Cervin county in the northwestern Italian city of Val D'Osta, Marco Vesan confirmed that Giuseppina, born on 12 August 1916, had tested negative for the virus after remaining in the quarantine for 25 days.
Vesan said that Giuseppina and three residents of a care home in Ponte resort had tested positive for COVID-19 and were quarantined for 25 days in the resort.
The four have now recovered from the deadly virus, he indicated.
Italy, along with neighboring France, has Europe's largest population of the "super old" or people who are 100 years old or over.
Italy has the world's highest number of COVID-19 fatalities, the majority of them are from the old population.
Super-old survivors are giving glimmers of hope for peers in Italy and the world that they can also knock out the virus. (end) mn.ibi
