ADEN, April 10 (KUNA) -- Yemeni authorities announced Friday the first case of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, saying that the infected was a worker in a port in Hadramouth governorate east of the country.
According to the higher committee to combat the coronavirus, the individual, a foreigner, was receiving adequate medical attention for his case.
The governor of Hadramout Faraj Al-Bahsni, on his part, issued a full 24-hour lockdown on four areas in the governorate and a partial curfew in the rest of the regions starting from 8:00 p.m. Friday until 6:00 a.m. local-time.
Closures of markets, Masjids, and public areas will continue and will be supervised by competent health authorities.
Al-Shahar port, where the infection was discovered, will be on total lockdown for a week with possibility of extension. (end) sns.gta
