BERLIN, April 9 (KUNA) -- Up to 246 deaths occurred due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Germany, bringing the tally to 2,107, said a health institute Thursday.
According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the number of infections rose by 4,974, putting the number at 108,202 cases.
The RKI's President Lothar Wieler said in a press conference that the rate of spread now has slow down to one to one whereas in the previous week, the rate was one patient infecting five individuals or more.
Whether the government should lift it restrictions in the upcoming weeks, the RKI top official advised against such decision so as the fight against the COVID-19 would be more effective.
On his part, German Search Jens Spahn said that a partial-lift of restrictions might occur during the Easter holiday if the RKI maintained a positive outlook on the situation. (end) anj.gta
