WASHINGTON, March 29 (KUNA) -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued Saturday evening a Travel Advisory urging residents of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut "to refrain from non-essential domestic travel for 14 days effective immediately" amid the coronavirus outbreak.
"This Domestic Travel Advisory does not apply to employees of critical infrastructure industries, including but not limited to trucking, public health professionals, financial services, and food supply," the CDC said.
It added that the Governors of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut "will have full discretion to implement this Domestic Travel Advisory." This comes after President Donald Trump tweeted earlier that "a quarantine will not be necessary." There are over 53,000 confirmed coronavirus cases in New York and 834 reported deaths; New Jersey with at least 11,000 confirmed cases and 140 deaths and Connecticut has over 1,500 confirmed cases and 33 reported deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
