KUWAIT, March 6 (KUNA) -- Many capitals and cities around the world continue to see an increase in the number of coronavirus confirmed cases on Friday.
In Lebanon, Rafiq Hariri University Hospital issued its daily report on the latest developments of the novel Coronavirus in Lebanon declaring that six new cases have been recorded today.
Within the past 24 hours, the hospital received 87 cases in the emergency room, all of which underwent the necessary medical checkups. Accordingly, 20 cases have been quarantined while the rest have been asked to practice self-isolation at home.
The required laboratory tests were carried out for 127 cases, and as a result, 121 tested negative, and six positive, which raises the total of Coronavirus cases to 22 in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, the condition of the two Iranian patients remains critical while that of the remaining 19 patients is stable.
Furthermore, Palestinian Health officials said Friday evening that nine new cases of Covid-19 have been detected in Bethlehem, bringing the death toll to 16 cases.
In a press statement, Palestinian Minister of Health Mai Kailah said that the number of those infected with the virus increased to 16 after nine new infections were detected in Bethlehem.
Yesterday, Palestinian health officials announced seven cases of the virus in the city of Bethlehem, who had been in contact with a Greek tourist delegation that visited the Palestinian territories and stayed in a hotel in the city last month.
On another front, the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Netherlands rose by 46 to 128 on Friday, the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment reported.
Of the 128 patients, 101 were either infected abroad or are contacts of confirmed patients, Northern Italy, where many Dutch people go to ski has been a primary source so far.
Five of the new patients have been hospitalized and the rest treated at home, it noted in a press release.
Earlier, in the Netherlands, an 86-year-old man, who was admitted to the Ikazia Hospital in Rotterdam for coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, died, Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment reported.
It was the first case of death in the Netherlands from Coronavirus Meanwhile, Indian Health Ministry announced Friday that the number of people affected by the deadly corona virus rose to 31 cases as the authorities are taking all necessary measures to prevent the spread of virus to more areas.
The Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in a statement today that there are 31 confirmed cases now in the country as one more suspect has tested positive for COVID-19.
"There are now have 31 confirmed cases in the country. This includes 16 Italian nationals," the ministry said in a statement.
It added that the latest suspect who tested positive for COVID-19 "has a travel history of Thailand and Malaysia.
The patient is in hospital quarantine and stable." The government has advised to conduct universal medical screening on all international passengers irrespective of nationality.
Currently 30 airports across the country were equipped with adequate screening measures, the statement said, adding the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and WHO organized a daylong national level training on Covid-19.
So far, three affected people with corona virus in the southern Indian state of Kerala have recovered.
Most of the affected Indian people are from the famous tourist city of Agra in Uttar Pradesh, two cases are reported from capital New Delhi, one case was also reported from Telangana in addition to 16 Italian tourists in Rajasthan city of Jaipur.
Delhi government, meanwhile, announced closure of public and private schools while stringent precautionary measures at airports, public places, hospitals and tourist spots were also taken.
Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in the UK has now reached 163, the government has confirmed.
It is a jump of 48 cases since Thursday, the biggest increase in one day. More than 20,000 people have been tested.
