ALGIERS, Feb 29 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul-Gheit hinted Saturday on "the possibility of delaying the upcoming Arab summit in Algeria, scheduled at the end of next March, noting that it might be delayed for a month or two."
The remarks came in a joint press conference between Abul-Gheit and Algerian Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the sidelines of his visit to Algeria.
"The decision will be decided in the evening with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune," Abul-Gheit said, expressing hopes that "the summit will be held before June of this year.
He added that the aim of his visit is to find out Algeria's position on holding the Arab summit next March 30.
Abul-Gheit noted the Arab world needs to unite and reach political settlements, and this issue that must be reviewed and discussed in order to strengthen Arab stands.
For his part, the Algerian Foreign Minister affirmed, "the Arab world today suffers from several problems and challenges that obligate Arab countries to cooperate with the Arab League to face various challenges that beset the Arab world. (end)
