KUWAIT, Feb 28 (KUNA) -- The number of coronavirus cases (COVID-19) in Kuwait went up to 45 individuals after two new cases were reported, said the Health Ministry Friday.
Assistant Secretary at the Health Ministry Dr. Buthaina Al-Mudhaf told a press conference that the new number came after swipe tests were taken from the newly announced infections.
The ministry also conducted yesterday tests on 118 Kuwaiti passengers evacuated from Italy with no coronavirus detected, while 22 passengers coming from Iran were transferred to quarantine, she said.
The new announced cases are being quarantined in hospitals according to treatment protocols stipulated by World Health Organization (WHO), she affirmed, adding that all those infected were in good health and recovering.
Dr. Al-Mudhaf urged all citizens and expatriates to follow preventative measures to halt the spread of the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, she indicated that a team from WHO is expected to arrive in Kuwait Saturday to assess the measures implemented here. (end) mak.gta
