ISTANBUL, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck the Turkish province of Elazig on Monday, days after a powerful quake struck on Friday, killing and injuring people.
A statement issued by the Presidency of the Turkish Emergency and Disasters Administration (AFAD) said that an earthquake measuring 4.2 degrees struck Elazig today at a depth of 12 km without giving further details.
The search and rescue work is still going on in the state after the earthquake that struck last Friday, leaving dead and wounded.
According to AFAD, about 4,000 workers have participated in the search and rescue operation since Friday, noting that the earthquake victims had risen to 41 people. (end) ta.aa
