CAIRO, Jan 12 (KUNA) -- Egypt's President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi said on Sunday that Cairo is eager to boost counter-terrorism efforts alongside the European Union (EU), which includes tackling the root cause of the scourge.
Al-Sisi's remarks came amid talks with European Council president Charles Michel, according to presidential spokesman Bassam Radhi, who emphasized that Egypt and the EU are working closely together over various issues, including the situation in Libya.
Besides being a trusted "trade partner" of Egypt, the EU and Cairo share many commonalities including a similar foreign policy and mutual challenges, added Al-Sisi.
The EU official spoke highly of the single-currency bloc's "historic" relationship with Egypt, given the country's rising "clout" on the international stage, he said. (end) asm.nam
