BEIRUT, Jan 8 (KUNA) -- Former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn announced on Wednesday that the charges directed by the Japanese judiciary against him are "false".
Speaking at a news conference held at Lebanon's journalists syndicate, he said he was arrested in accordance with a plan set by officials of the Nissan company, adding that he was not fleeing justice but "injustice".
He expressed his readiness to be fairly tried in any place, saying that the Japanese regime cares about neither the truth nor justice.
Ghosn stated he is here to clean up his image to the world and explain what happened.
He stated that he was detained at Tokyo airport on November 19, 2018, after he was informed that there was a problem regarding his passport. He revealed that he did not know that Nissan was behind this plot.
Ghosn said he had several sessions before the trial, and spent a period in solitary confinement that runs counter to international laws.
He said he was threatened that Japan's authorities would bother his family.
Ghosn pointed out that he used to spend eight hours in investigations without the presence of his lawyer.
Ghons, who has French, Lebanese and Brazilian nationalities, arrived in Lebanon on December 29 after fleeing Japan where he was under house arrest and investigated in corruption and financial charges during his chairmanship of Nissan. (end) kbs.hm
