ISTANBUL, Dec 15 (KUNA) -- Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister of Libya's UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Al-Sarraj discussed on Sunday the prospects of the bilateral relations. During their meeting, held behind closed doors at the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul, both men reviewed the latest developments in Libya and the implementation of the two separate memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed by Ankara and Tripoli on November 27.
One of the two documents aims to promote military cooperation and the other one demarcates the maritime boundaries of both countries in the Eastern Mediterranean, according to Turkey's Anadolu Agency (AA). On the security situation in Libya, Erdogan asserted Turkey's rejection of the aggression on the capital city of Tripoli, praising the sacrifices offered by the sons of Libya in defense of the city, according to a statement by Al-Sarraj's office. For his part, Al-Sarraj tanked Turkey for supporting his supporting his UN-recognized government and contributing to efforts to restore stability and security across Libya, the statement added.
