MUSCAT, Dec 15 (KUNA) -- KUNA Chairman and President of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) Sheikh Mubarak Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah on Sunday, affirmed that Arab media in general and news agencies in particular, do not lack capabilities or ideas, but need serious cooperation.
This came in a speech by Sheikh Mubarak during the opening of the 47th General Assembly of FANA, which was held under the auspices of Omani Minister of Information Dr. Abdelmoneim Bin Mansour Al-Hassani.
He noted that one of the most important challenges facing Arab news agencies is the possession of information, noting, "This will not be achieved without investing our human resources successfully and the commitment of media workers to care and be trainws in order to qualify them and provide them with modern methods and tools.
"No one denies the role that FANA is playing in this field, but we stress the importance of developing the training process and enhancing its capabilities to include all media fields in a way that realizes the Arab media the ability to perform its duty successfully and competently," said Sheikh Mubarak.
He praised great efforts and continuous cooperation of FANA members throughout the past years during his presidency, in which he saw the keen interest in strengthening the leadership role of the Federation in the development of Arab media. He also hailed efforts of FANA's Secretary General Dr. Fareed Ayar.
Sheikh Mubarak expressed great confidence that Director General of the Omani News Agency, Dr. Mohammad Al-Uraimi, would be the best leader of the Federation.
During the ceremony, Minister Al-Hassani honored Sheikh Mubarak for his presidency of FANA during the last period. (end) ma.aa
