MANAMA, Dec 15 (KUNA) -- Bahrain celebrates tomorrow, Monday, its 48th national day and the 20th anniversary of King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa's assumption of office, with the Gulf Kingdom achieving development and progress.
Governorates nationwide organized national and cultural activities to celebrate the national occasions.
Since its independence in 1971, Bahrain aspired to set a unique path towards development and progress, relying on its economic and financial potentials.
The Gulf country executed many initiatives and projects aimed at sustainability of social prosperity and development of human resources.
Bahrain, ever since joining the UN, worked on promoting its foreign policy to reflect the country's civilization.
The Arab Gulf countries witnessed a historic milestone when King Hamad assumed office in 1999. The Monarch announced constitutional reforms and a National Convention that restored parliamentary and democratic life to the country.
This enabled a further role for women at different levels, part of King Hamad's reforms that promoted human rights, development, freedom and human development in specific.
Bahraini youth play a vital role in the development plans, as the government firmly believes the real investment was the one in youth who would contribute to the progress of the country.
Parliamentary and municipal elections were held in 2018, and 47 women ran in elections. Turnout in both elections was a record 67 percent.
Fawziya Zainel was elected as parliament speaker to be the first women occupying this post.
Bahrain has a lucrative investment environment, and the Kingdom's 2030 vision aimed at creating a solid economic and investment foundation, which would provide high quality educational and health services.
The country has been evolving at the cultural and level with exhibitions and museums.
