BRUSSELS, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- European Union Foreign Ministers began a meeting Monday to discuss developments in Libya, exchange views on Ukraine and EU-Africa relations.
The recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Libya and Turkey will be on the agenda today, EU High Representative Josep Borrell told reporters ahead of the meeting.
"We will continue talking about that and try to approach positions. I don't expect an agreement on Libya, I expect to have a position after analyzing what is the content of this memorandum of understanding which has been kept not secret but unknown until a few days ago," he said.
He said Latin America was one of the topics that we have to talk about during the meeting.
"From Chile to Venezuela, they are on a really critical situation, more than before the summer," he added.
On his part, Stef Blok, Dutch foreign minister commenting on the Turkey-Libya deal said, "Netherlands is always a strong supporter of the international law and we side with the Greek, as all European countries. As regards to international waters, also international law should be upheld." German foreign minister Heiko Maas said the "EU must recognize Africa as one of its priorities based on many reasons and not only migration, security and political reasons if we look at developments in the Sahel and Libya."
