WASHINGTON, Nov 19 (KUNA) -- An American citizen was arrested in Chicago on a federal complaint charging him with supporting the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (IS).
Thomas Osadzinski, 20, arrested yesterday, is charged with "one count of attempting to provide material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization," the Department of Justice (DOJ) said in a statement on Tuesday.
Osadzinski was ordered today held without bond as a detention hearing has been scheduled for Friday.
The complaint alleges that Osadzinski "designed a process that uses a computer script to make (IS) propaganda more conveniently accessed and disseminated by users on a social media platform." According to the complaint, Osadzinski's computer process would "automatically copy and preserve (IS) media postings in an organized format, allowing social media users to continue to conveniently access and disseminate the content." The material support charge is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. (end) si.gb
