CAIRO, Nov 19 (KUNA) -- Egypt renewed, on Tuesday, its stance on Jewish settlements in Palestine, saying that they were illegal and against international law.
Ahmad Hafth, spokesman from the Foreign Ministry, stressed that his country would abide by international resolutions concerning the illegal status of such settlements, indicating that the altering stance, announced by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in regards to the legality of the settlements was against international conventions.
The US new position on the settlements has garnered negative reactions from the Palestinians as well as other regional states, which condemned the Trump administration's decision, deeming it as counterproductive for peace efforts in the Middle East. (end) rg.gta
