WASHINGTON, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- The US Government and the Libyan Government of National Accord launched on Wednesday a US-Libya Security Dialogue.
The delegation of the Libyan Government expressed "grave concerns regarding the security situation and its effect on the civilian population," according to a joint statement issued here on Thursday.
The US calls on the (opposition) Libyan National Army to end its offensive on Tripoli to "facilitate further US-Libya cooperation to prevent undue foreign interference, reinforce legitimate state authority, and address the issues underlying the conflict," the statement said.
It noted that the US delegation, representing a number of US government agencies, "underscored support for Libya's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russia's attempts to exploit the conflict against the will of the Libyan people." The Libyan Government of National Accord was represented by Foreign Minister Mohammad Siala and Minister of Interior Fathi Bashaga, the statement added. (end) si.gb
