TEHRAN, Oct 15 (KUNA) -- Kuwait on Tuesday commended the winners of the fight against cancer, heart disease and diabetes, on the sidelines of the 66th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) in Tehran, Iran.
Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health (MoH) Dr. Fawaz Al-Rifai, on behalf of the Kuwaiti Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basel Humoud Al-Sabah, presented "The Foundation of the State of Kuwait Prize for the Control of Cancer, Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes in the Eastern Mediterranean Region," to the winners, acknowledging scientists, researchers and contributors.
They awarded Saudi Arabian Surgeon Dr. Samar Al-Homoud for the field of cancer control, Lebanese Professor Dr. Abla Mehio Sibai for the field of cardiovascular diseases and Iranian Dr. Ali Ridha in the field of diabetes.
The health ministry arrived Sunday in Tehran, the delegation headed by Al-Rifai, to contribute to the work of the 66th session, lasting until Oct 17th. (end) mu.lr
