WASHINGTON, Aug 23 (KUNA) -- The Pentagon has confirmed death of two US soldiers in Afghanistan.
The Pentagon announced in a statement, late on Thursday, "the deaths of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel."
It added that the two soldiers died August 21 "in Faryab Province, Afghanistan, as a result of wounds sustained from small arms fire while engaged in combat operations. The incident is under investigation."
This brings the number of US soldiers killed in combat-related incidents in Afghanistan to 14 this year, making it the highest number of fatalities since 2014. (end)
