AMMAN, Aug 19 (KUNA) -- German Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer said Monday that her country believes in the two-state solution through negotiation as the only solution to the Palestinian-Israeli crisis.
Kramp-Karrenbauer made his remarks, in a joint press conference along with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi after comprehensive meetings between the two, namely issues related to the Palestinian issue and security cooperation.
For his part, Al-Safadi praised German stand to the two-state solution and its commitment to support UNRWA.
The minister affirmed on the importance of German role in combating terrorism, stressing that they are combating a joint enemy, which still represent a dangerous security threat.
"Germany plays a key role in this war which we are fighting to protect our security and our common interests and values," he added.
"The fight against terrorism is not over and we must continue cooperation to defeat it," Al-Safadi said.
They have also discussed the need for a political solution in Syria as well as developments regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict the ministry said.
Upon her arrival, Kramp-Karrenbauer said Germany has an interest in securing stability and ensuring that recent successes against militants like the so-called Islamic State (IS), and make "a sustainable and lasting contribution to security in the region and also for security from terrorism in Europe and in Germany."
