KUWAIT, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- 1962 -- The Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues law on organization and construction of separate prisons for males, females and juveniles.
1962 -- The Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues decree to establish the Planning Council as an independent entity in a bid to devise general economic and social policies, as well as monitor their realization through setting long-term objectives.
1983 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issues a decree on organizing the Kuwait Stock Exchange in a manner that serves economic development.
1991 -- A Kuwaiti firefighting team of 26 members participates in putting out fires at the burning oil wells, set ablaze by the occupying Iraqi troops. The team extinguished 41 wells, including Burgan's 160 - the one with largest output and greatest blaze.
2005 -- Pioneer Kuwaiti businessman and philanthropist Abdurrahman Al-Bisher passes away after serving as an icon for turning one small shop in the 1950s into one of the biggest and most important car dealerships in the country, along with his partner, Zaid Al-Kathmi.
2010 -- Kuwaiti poet Ahmad Al-Saqqaf passed away.
2017 -- Waleed Al-Ali, a pioneer Imam and preacher passed away.
