MADRID, July 21 (KUNA) -- Three months after the Spanish general elections, Socialist Party (PSOE) candidate Pedro Sanchez would try to convince the parliament Monday of his government-formation program, which would be voted on Tuesday.
The session will begin with a speech by the Socialist leader, who would seek to form his second government, followed by remarks by all representatives of the political forces in the parliament.
However, Sanchez is expected to fail to win the majority of 176 votes needed to form a government, but he could succeed in obtaining a simple majority in the second session, due on Thursday.
The PSOE won 123 seats out of 350-seat house. Sanchez will be forced to form a coalition government and is hoping to win support of the leftist Unidas Podemos, which has 42 seats.
Podemos will not be enough because such a coalition will be short of the 176-majority margin, paving way for negotiations with other parties.
Spanish King Felipe VI proposed last month the nomination of Sanchez to form a government. (end) hnd.ss
