VIENNA, July 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait is eager to introduce a raft of economic legislation including trade law reforms as it seeks to fulfill its plan of becoming a financial and economic hub, said an official on Thursday.
Trade laws and other economic legislation constitute a major part of a nation's development plans, Kuwait's undersecretary of the Fatwa and Legislation department Huda Al-Shaiji said amid talks held by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
As a member of UNCITRAL, Kuwait has gained much insight into international trade laws, she explained, saying the talks covered matters such as the relationship between the public and private sectors.
UNCITRAL is the core legal body of the UN system in the field of international trade law, with universal membership specializing in commercial law reform worldwide for over 50 years. (end) mah.amm.nam
