BEIRUT, June 20 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul Gheit affirmed Thursday the importance of efforts spent by joint Arab labor institutions to achieve sustainable development 2030 in the region.
In a speech, he delivered at the opening of the 48th meeting of the High Coordinating Committee for Joint Arab Action held in Beirut, Abul Gheit reffered to the major role of the Arab League in various fields.
He stressed on importance of coordination between different Arab labor Institutions to succeed in implementing sustainable Development Goals in the Arab region, praising the ability of these institutions to work together and prepare important studies.
On sidelines of the meeting, Director General of Arab Labor Organization Fayez Al-Mutairi said in a statement to KUNA "The importance of the meeting lies in the effectiveness of Arab action under the umbrella of the League of Arab States". He pointed to the proposal presented by the Arab Labor Organization to develop a comprehensive strategy among the Arab joint labor institutions.
The proposal includes a vision and studies of each institution on how to implement the sustainable development that will be submitted later to Arab governments.
The Committee aims at finding a binding mechanism for cooperation between Arab joint labor institutions to improve performance and be more effective on the national, regional and Arab levels.
It also aims to unify the foundations and decisions that govern the work of these organizations and help them to implement vital projects in the Arab region.
The meetings were held on two levels, the first convened on Wednesday and included experts at the meeting of the technical committee headed by Assistant Secretary General of the Economic Sector at the League of Arab States Dr. Kamal Hassan Ali.
The second meeting was held today at the level of heads and directors of Arab labor institutions; headed by Abul Gheit.(end) ayb.abk.nhq
