MAKKAH, June 1 (KUNA) -- Leaders of Organization of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) countries condemned inhumane conditions of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, calling for an immediate halt of violent acts and atrocities against this minority.
The leaders, in a statement over Rohingyas, called on government in Myanmar to grant the Rohingyas full rights without discrimination and asserted the government was fully responsible over the safety of its citizens and should immediately stop military hostilities in Rakhine state.
They urged Myanmar government to take practical and concrete steps to return nationality to Rohingyas and to allow their safe and dignified return to their homes, including those who were forced to flee to neighboring Bangladesh.
They called for launching an independent and transparent international investigation into human rights violations in Myanmar, including sexual harassment against children, and to hold those responsible accountable.
They called a ministerial committee to file a law suit at the International Court of Justice over the crimes committed against the Rohingyas.
The leaders called for supporting the government of Bangladesh to help it over services for the Rohingya refugees. (end)
