PARIS, May 25 (KUNA) -- 'Yellow Vests' protesters clashed with police forces in Paris and the northern city of Amiens on Saturday, despite the shrinking of the movement in its 28th week.
Protesters demonstrated today amid heightened security measures with a significant drop in the number of participants since the start of the protest movement more than six months ago.
According to the French Interior Ministry, two marches were organized in Paris, which included 2,100 demonstrators, during which some tear gas grenades were fired.
The six-month-old protests have affected the popularity of French President Emmanuel Macron, with recent opinion polls showing Marin Le Pen's far-right list on Mcron's list of European elections.
The protest movement began in November condemning rising taxes, fuel prices and worsening living conditions and prompted President Macron to announce a series of measures to tackle the crisis, including salary adjustments and tax cuts from 2020. (end) mjz.aa
