PARIS, May 20 (KUNA) -- A man who climbed up the structure of the world-famous Eiffel Tower on Monday was intercepted six hours later by police, local media said.
The climber caused the evacuation of the Eiffel Tower in the mid-afternoon as security staff feared for the safety of visitors and on-lookers.
France Info radio said that the police had not named the man, who was handed over to emergency services for medical checks.
The monument will open for business as usual on Tuesday, the Eiffel Tower announced on its website.
In past years, the 300-metre structure has been victim of pranksters, climbing and displaying large posters.
There have also been several suicides from the tower. (Pickup previous) jk.mb
